Haven't updated in a while.... not a lot going on. I've been working like crazy and baby has been getting bigger! She's about a foot long now, and weighs about a pound and a quarter. She moves around all the time now, and you can see her kicks and punches from the outside. It seems like she's developed her own little schedule now, and unfortunately it goes completely against mine... she moves around when I'm trying to work, or when I'm trying to sleep. Although, in fairness to her, that's about all I do right now is work and sleep! When I push on my belly now I can move her around, and she'll push back.
I went to the doctor this week for my 24 week checkup, and she was so active that she wouldn't sit still long enough to get her heart rate. She sat still for about 2 seconds, and the doctor clocked her heartrate at about 145, and then she starting flipping around and it went up to 165. The doctor said she's doing really well, and obviously strong since she was so feisty. I also had my glucose tolerance test, which is a pre-screening for gestational diabetes. Yep, I failed it, so now I have to go back on May 5th for the 3-hour test....fantastic, just how I wanted to spend half a day. Once we get the results of that test, we'll know if I get to add gestational diabetes to my laundry list of medical problems. I'm a doctor's worst nightmare! But my doctors are great, and are taking very good care of both of us.
We picked out the paint colors for her room today, pink and green (obviously), and will be buying the paint today, and just have to find a spare weekend to actually DO the painting. Then after that's done, we have to put together the crib, dresser, and blanket chest. Finally, we'll be able to start putting away some of her stuff! Still need to get the changing table and glider, and then the room will be ready! Now we just need a baby to put into the room....only about 15 more weeks, sounds like such a long time (and it will probably feel like a lifetime by mid-August) but I guess it really isn't that far away. Two of our friends will be having babies at the end of this month, and we can't wait to meet them, and to find out if Claire's new cousin from Aunt Erin will be a boy or a girl.
That's about all for now, more updates to come, 3rd trimester starts on Tuesday, and then the doctor again next Monday, so maybe I'll finally have something to talk about!

Baby Claire, the next Karate Kid
Baby Claire continues to grow this week, now at 10.5", and probably about 12 ounces. She's started her new "main job" of putting on weight now, and is supposed to gain another pound this month. Her eyebrows and eyelids are now fully formed, although her eyes are still closed. She's drinking amniotic fluid now, and is developing tastebuds. Not sure if the fluid tastes like anything, but I might have some ice cream tonight so she can try it out...
She's been kicking up a storm lately, I'm thinking she might be the next Karate Kid. I can feel her kick every day now, especially at night, she likes to kick while I watch tv. She gave her daddy his first kick in the face last night, he was laying on my stomach listening to her, and she kicked him in the chin. She better do it while she can, I doubt he'll like it too much if she tries that once she's on the outside.
We started getting some of her furniture this weekend, as soon as it comes in to Babies R Us, she'll have an armoire and a blanket (toy) chest. We also got the fabric to make her bedding, which her nana is going to make for her! Lots of exciting stuff happening, just trying to get everything done before she gets here, it seems like there's still so much to do!
