Baby Parker is...

Baby Parker is a girl!! (we think) The ultrasound tech said she wasn't 100% sure because the baby had it's legs crossed (at the ankles, already a lady!), but she did see the lines that indicate "girl" and definitely didn't see anything between the legs. I go back in 4 weeks for the anatomy scan, and will be able to tell for sure then. But they wouldn't have told us anything unless they were 99% sure, so it's a girl! We're both very excited!!!

"Find Out" week!!

"Find Out What Baby Is" week is here!! We find out on Thursday if we're have a little Aaron or a little Courtney. We're very excited! Two online quizzes and 4 out of 5 "ring tests" (sorry, Jennifer!) all predict girl... we'll see soon!!

At 16 weeks, Baby Parker is now the size of an avocado... 4.5" long from crown to rump, and about 3.5 ounces. Somehow that 3.5 ounces manages to continue to crush my bladder. Baby's circulatory system is now hard at work, and it's heart is pumping 25 quarts of my blood through it's body every day. It's hair pattern is also forming... note to baby, please don't get Daddy's cowlick in the front!!

I think I finally felt the "baby-popcorn" feeling yesterday, but not sure... guess it could just be gas. It was a pretty neat feeling, whatever it was! Can't wait until I can feel it every day!

That's about it for now, I'll let you know on Thursday what we find out!

Cute joke

You don't even have to be Catholic to appreciate this one.

Little Mary Margaret was not the best student in Catholic School.
Usually she slept through the class.
One day her teacher, a Nun, called on her while she was sleeping. "Tell
me Mary Margaret, who created the universe?"
When Mary Margaret didn't stir, little Johnny who was her friend sitting
behind her, took his pencil and jabbed her in the rear.
"God Almighty!" shouted Mary Margaret.
The Nun said, "Very good" and continued teaching her class.
A little later the Nun asked Mary Margaret, "Who is our Lord and
Savior?"
But Mary didn't stir from her slumber Once again; Johnny came to her
rescue and stuck Mary Margaret in the butt.
"Jesus Christ!!!" shouted Mary Margaret and the Nun once again said,"
Very good," and Mary Margaret fell back asleep.
The Nun asked her a third question..."What did Eve say to Adam after she
had her twenty-third child?"
Again, Johnny came to the rescue.
This time Mary Margaret jumped up and shouted, "If you stick that damn
thing in me one more time, I'll break it in half!"
The nun fainted.

15 weeks!

15 weeks today! The second trimester "honeymoon" has definitely started, I haven't been sick at all since the second trimester started, it's fantastic! I also suspect that now that I'm not sick every day, I'll start gaining weight...not that cool.

The baby is now 4-4.5" long, and about 2.5oz... about the size of an apple, or a gerbil, whichever you feel more comfortable with having in your body. I'll stick with the apple. It's still sitting on a nerve in my back, which is pretty uncomfortable, but not unbearable. Next week we get to find out what it is, so we're SUPER excited about that! Can't wait to start picking stuff out. Grandma Barb is coming down for the ultrasound, she can't wait to see if she's going to get to make lots of baby clothes (if it's a girl) or a few less outfits (if it's a boy). If it's a girl, we'll be heading straight to the fabric store after the ultrasound.

Not much else going on, today is our 18 month anniversary, a year and a half down, a lifetime to go!

Second Trimester!!

Yay, my second trimester starts today! I woke up this morning feeling great (100% psychological, I know) Hopefully the morning sickness will taper off now, that would be great!! I'm getting fatter every day, most of my pants don't fit anymore, so it's about time to start buying the maternity pants. And maybe one of those shirts that says "I'm not fat, I'm pregnant"...

Baby Parker is about 3.5-4 inches long now, about the size of a lemon. It can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck its thumb. And the best part, in two weeks and two days, (Feb 28th) we get to find out what "it" is, so we can stop calling the baby "it"!! We're very excited, and then we can start to register for the fun stuff, instead of just the basics... that will be a relief, since Babies 'R Us is NOT FUN at all right now (as we found out this past weekend). As with all of our other decisions, we can't agree on how we want to decorate... eventually we'll come to a decision we can both agree on, but not yet. Other than that, not much going on, we're both busy with work and getting ready planning for the baby. It's kind of all I can think about! Love to everyone!!

Week 13 (Super Tuesday!)

Week 13 starts today! The morning sickness hasn't gotten much better, and now I have a cold too! Miserable week! Baby Parker is doing well, it's about 3" long now, or the size of a medium shrimp, says Babycenter.com. I don't know what happened overnight, but I woke up this morning looking REALLY pregnant, I couldn't even button my pants. Crazy, because I've lost a total of 10 lbs since my first doctor's appointment.... it's a great diet, I'm going to have to do this again sometime!

Things I LOVE right now: CALZONES!! pizza, pasta, ice cream, lazy time on the couch, shopping online at Babies R Us and Target, other pregnant girls

Things I HATE right now: Mexican food (which I usually love!), cigarette smoke (makes me want to puke whenever I smell it), Lucy walking on my boobs-OUCH!, my husband drinking stupid Margaritas at Chilis, the one drink I will ALWAYS take part in, and now can't...

13 weeks down, 27 to go!

Baby's Heartrate

Thanks for reminding me Abbie, the baby's heartrate was 160... sounds like a girl to me!! I know, I know, that's such an old wives tale, my doctor said that if that wives tale was right, that she would have been a boy...and she was here to tell me that she definitely is a girl. We'll see! We're still working on picking out a boy's name, we're having a hard time agreeing on one, but I can tell you for sure that it won't be Erk, like Aaron wanted!

We joined the blog world!

Yes, we've reached the 21st century and have started a blog to let everyone know how we're doing, and how the pregnancy is going.

Today I went to the doctor for my 12-week checkup... all good news, the baby and I are both doing great! And there's just one baby there, my hope for twins is gone. We got to see the baby on the ultrasound, and got to hear "it's" heartbeat on the Doppler. It was very exciting! The baby is already pretty cute, it looks like the dancing baby from Ally McBeal... kicking it's legs around the whole time and waving it's arms. We got to see a close-up picture of the baby's face, and for the first time ever I could understand what I was looking at on a sonogram, instead of just nodding and pretending like I could see what people were talking about.

We finally told everyone at work today about the baby, they were all really excited, and can't wait to find out if it's going to be a boy or a girl. We can't wait either, hopefully when I go back to the doctor next time I will be able to talk them into doing an ultrasound and letting us know what we're having!!

Not much else going on now, just trying to get ready for everything!
