Halfway done!

Today is the halfway mark, baby Claire will be here in another 20 weeks! It seems like it hasn't been that long, and now I'm torn between wanting her to hurry up and get here so I can see her, and wanting it to take 9 more months because I have so much more to do!

This is Claire's week of 10's... she's 10 ounces, and 10 inches long now! (aparently they start measuring with the legs included at 10 weeks, that's the reason for the huge growth spurt). She is swallowing now, getting practice to start breathing, and is making poop, although it won't come out until after she's born....Daddy gets that first diaper! Her teeth are forming in her gums, baby and adult teeth, and her eyes can move back and forth, and can roll in circles....that will come in handy in about 13 years. Or when she's two, if she's anything like her mother. She's also learning to tell the difference between day and night, so hopefully she'll keep the kicking down during the nights. The belly is getting bigger every day, it feels like the inside is growing faster than the outside can keep up with...a little uncomfortable sometimes!!

I've been able to feel her move a few times every day, and she tried to kick Lucy the other day, but Lucy jumped on her first, so I guess I can't blame her. Daddy still can't feel her, but maybe sometime soon. We're in the process of trying to pick out material for her bedding, which my mom is going to make. In a moment of impulsiveness, I picked out a whole new set of bedroom furniture for her, had to change around the Babies R Us registry a little bit! This weekend we have Becky and Charlie's baby shower up in Chattanooga, so I'm excited about that, can't wait to see Bec's belly!

Tornado in Atlanta!

Last night the first tornado in recorded history hit the city of Atlanta, including the Georgia Dome, Philips Arena, the GWCC, CNN building, Omni hotel, and Centennial Olympic Park. Where was I during all of this? Inside the Georgia Dome, at the SEC basketball games, right when the tornado hit the Dome... it was absolutely crazy. We could hear a rumbling noise, it sounded like when people stomp their feet on the bleachers at a game, and then could see the scoreboard and the tv's hanging from the ceiling start shaking, then part of the roof lifted up, things started falling, and people started screaming and running from their seats to the covered levels of the dome. It was scary as hell!! Baby Claire's first tornado, we'll have to save pictures for her to see later.

There are tons more pictures on ajc.com, it's unbelievable that no one was killed, with the hundreds of thousands of people that were in the path of the tornado when it hit. A woman was killed in a Polk County tornado (about 20 mins from our house) today, our prayers go out to the family.

18 Weeks

18 weeks! Baby Claire is about 5 inches long, 7 ounces, roughly the size of a bell pepper. Not much exciting stuff happening to her this week, just growing and moving around, kicking away. I can finally feel her moving every once in a while. She picked out her own bedding today... I was looking at fabric online to make her bedding out of, and I opened a pink and green toile pattern, and she started kicking. She liked it! Sounds like that might be the one that we have to pick. Claire might be a "pink & green girl" like mommy! Other than that, not much going on, just working and trying to make plans for Becky's baby shower in a few weeks.

Week 17

Week 17 was a big week for Baby Claire, her first plane trip, first visit to great-grandma and all the aunts/uncles/cousins...too bad she had no idea any of it was going on, we'll have to do it again once she's actually here! She's getting bigger every week, just like mommy. She's about 6 ounces now, roughly the size of a turnip. I actually have no idea how big that is, having never seen a turnip before, but whatever. I guess about 4.5-5 inches.

I finally finished picking out all of Claire's stuff... she'll be well stocked with some fun baby gear, and super cute Pottery Barn kids stuff!! I somehow think that I'm way more excited about all the stuff than she ever will be. And sometime later this month mom and I are going to start picking out material for all her cutie little dresses and outfits, I think mom's almost as excited as I am about that...
