Another day of frustration...

Went back to the doctor today for my 38 week checkup.... I was hoping to get my membranes stripped to get this baby moving, but no such luck, I was still only dialated to a 1, and about 50% effaced, so they couldn't get in there to strip my membranes. The midwife also said that based on the way my belly looked, that this wasn't a small baby, which the ultrasound that I had 2 weeks ago said that she was measuring a little small, but nothing to worry about. So between the membrane thing and being told that the baby was bigger than what I was planning, I was pretty pissed by the time I left the doctor. But from what I've been told, I could still go into labor at any time, or my water could break, so I'm trying to just be patient, and wait it out. I have to go back to the doctor on Friday because my blood pressure was a little high, and I keep getting headaches, so maybe by Friday I'll be ready to get my membranes done.

Exciting news from Aaron's life... his new Bowflex came today, so we spent most of the night putting that together. What would he do without me and my mad furniture building skills?? He sure wouldn't have a new bowflex all put together to use! But I can't complain, it will help me get back into shape after baby gets here without having to go to the gym, so that's nice.

I know I promised belly/nursery pics, and I actually have taken them, now I just need to find the cord to connect my camera to the computer...Soon, soon.

Now accepting scholarship offers...

We're pretty sure this kid is going to be a gymnast, so we're open to scholarship offers to Div I schools starting today. Baby Claire has flipped back around to the head-down position, as of yesterday, so we're just waiting now for nature to take it's very slow course. The doctor said yesterday that I'm dialated to 1cm, and 50 % effaced, which is better than last week, but still slow progress, at least to me. I'm ready for her to be here! So today I start the walking today, and anything else I can do to speed up the process, suggestions welcome!! I did have a few contractions yesterday after my appointment, which is normal from them messing around with my business, but nothing that was regular or really even painful. It looks like they probably will be able to strip my membranes at my appointment next week so hopefully that will help too! Also, they could tell from the ultrasound that the kid already has a bunch of hair... we'll see if it's a 'fro like I had when I was little, or if she'll look normal. (Sorry mom and dad, that probably wasn't my best look!)

On a random side note, I managed to accidentally test what would happen if my water broke in bed, no worries about the new mattress. I was drinking from a waterbottle in bed last night and dropped in and spilled the whole thing all over the bed/pillow/myself, and in the two or three minutes that it took me to change my shirt, grab a towel and try to soak up some of the puddle, the water still hadn't soaked through to the mattress level. So that's good, now just have to put some towels in the car to sit on so I don't have to worry about ruining those seats. Oh the stupid things you have to worry about when you're pregnant.

And finally, last night was the GA Edge's first softball tournament, that's Aaron's new softball team. They actually did a lot better than I thought they would. I know, not very optimistic sounding, but based on their tournaments with the old team I didn't have a lot of reason for optimism. But anyway, they won 2 games and lost 2 (double-elimination tournament) and wound up coming in 5th. Rachel and I also learned that we have a long way to go to be "great softball wives/girlfriends" like the other girls at the field. Sorry guys, that we don't memorize your stats or keep track of your home runs....

I'll keep updating the baby progress!

Naughty Baby...

So, Baby Claire is already a bad girl. She's been hanging out, head stuck in my pelvis since about 24 weeks, and this morning decided to turn herself transverse again. And not just transverse, but a breech version of transverse. Basically, this means that her head is now up under my ribs on the right side, and her butt is kind of under my stomach. So, sideways, but also with the bottom toward the bottom. I felt her do a huge somersault this morning, but didn't think she'd still have enough room in there to do a complete flip, I figured she was just turning from her front over to her back, but I was pretty wrong. My blood pressure is also starting to creep up, and I have group B strep. For everything that had been going right for so long, now we're pretty much heading in the opposite direction.

Now I go back to the doctor on Friday, for yet another ultrasound so they can try to figure out if they will be able to try turn her around from the outside, or if we need to look back at the c-section idea again. If they do decide to do a c-section, we'll probably have a baby next week, the doctor said today they would do it around 38-38.5 weeks, so that's next week. We'll know more on Friday. Her dad and I may have to have a little talk with her tonight about appropriate behavior and doing what your mom and dad want.... maybe that will turn her back around. Or maybe she'll realize that it can't be any more comfortable for her to have her head in my ribs than it is for me.

I'm going to go make cookies now, and eat away my stresses about not wanting to have a c-section. Wish me luck! I'll post pics later of her bedroom, now that we've got it finished!

2 doctors appointments this week

Finally, something interesting to talk about... 2 doctors appointments this week, one regular appointment, and yet another ultrasound (not that I'm complaining). The first doctor's appointment went well, I gained another 2 lbs (yuck), the baby's heartrate is good, and very active. Very. I'm barely dilated, maybe a 1/2 cm, nothing really even worth considering dilated, which kind of pissed me off, but oh well, I do still have a few more weeks to go. I decided to start walking to help move her into position, and to get a bit of exercise, not getting enough of that lately, so I went walking last night, and can tell that just from one night she's shifted into a better position, a little farther down, although that's a little uncomfortable too. But the farther she can get from my ribs the better, that hurts to be kicked in the ribs all day long!

Today was my ultrasound, and that was good too. The tech confirmed that she's defintely head-down (way down, in her words), and took some measurements, so it looks like we're having an average sized baby, with an normal sized head, thank god, not the Murrin head. She should be around 7lb or so when she's born, so she'll fit in all the little clothes she has! After my doctor's appointment I had a surprise baby shower at work. Lots of cute stuff, and then a few people went in together and bought our rocker, which is awesome, that finishes off the nursery, so I was super excited about that! Now all we have to do is hang the curtains and some decorations and it will be all ready for her to get here! Can't wait, I'm getting very impatient, and have another friend that's about to have her baby, which makes me a little more impatient every time that happens. Oh well, she'll be here soon enough, less than 4 weeks now, maybe sooner (hopefully sooner!) Off to bed now, inventory starts tomorrow, so we'll be putting in a few ridiculous hours at work, but at least it gives me something to do!

Random...

Congratulations to Jimmy, Julie, and big sister Caroline on their new addition, Claire Elizabeth (not to be confused with our Claire Grayton). She arrived 7/3, and Caroline is going to be an adorable and fabulous big sister, even if the poo diapers scare her a little...

We had a nice 4th of July, not the same as going to Grayton, but good anyway! We hung out with Brett and Rachel and Jeffery at the pool, and then went over to John and Leslie's for illegal fireworks. Too bad we didn't manage to hit their neighbors cars, since they were so uptight about the cars being near the fireworks. We'll be back to Grayton next year, with the mini-Parker in tow, and can't wait!! We missed it a LOT this year and we're very jealous of everyone that got to go, but the baby (and the doctor) makes the rules now, so we just couldn't do it. But we'll be back next year, and every year after that, we'll plan the timing on the next kid a little better.

Only a few weeks left to go, we could have a kid in about 3 weeks from now, 5 weeks at the most!! So excited!

34 weeks....

Boring doctor's appointment today. Everything is fine with both mommy and baby, she's still very active. She actually has a foot in my ribs right now, which isn't particularly comfortable. Actually, it kind of hurts. We go back to the doctor in two weeks, another ultrasound then, blood testing, and the group B strep test. I guess I'll also find out then if I've started to dilate and get ready for labor! After that I'll be visiting the doctor every week until she gets here!

Last weekend was fun, it was baby shower weekend, one shower in Chattanooga on Saturday, and then another one in Atlanta on Sunday. They were both fun, and we got lots of cool stuff for baby! We got her changing table today, so we've just got a few things left to get before she arrives!

As soon as I get batteries for my camera, I'll indulge everyone and post belly pics... it (the belly) scares me a little, but maybe not everyone else! I'll also post pictures of her nursery, now that it's almost done!!
