Mother's Day

This Sunday was my first Mother's Day with a real child, not just a 4-legged baby. We had a good day, and Claire was feeling a bit better, so that was good. We went out for breakfast Sunday morning, and then wandered around Target for a little while, looking at new carseats for Miss Priss. I think this is the one we're going to get, it's Mocha Mint, so brown and light green:
It will last until she's like 65lbs, or at the rate she's growing right now, about 12 years. We didn't actually buy a carseat on Sunday, but we did get Claire a baby pool, which I blew up while Claire laughed at me. Ok well, have to amuse however I can. I tried to get Claire to test out her baby pool on Sunday, but the water was a little cool, so she got a little pissed off. She did a little bit of tanning instead.
Then for dinner we took my mom out to eat Japanese. It was super yummy! Claire didn't seem too freaked out by the fire, but it definitely caught her attention. My dad stopped by on his way home from Colleen's house, so we got to see him too. It was a great Mother's day, and I did get to spend the day doing the most important thing.... mothering my still semi-sick baby. Oh, and on top of everything else, I got the Photoshop program for my computer, so I can play with my pictures!

Stone Mountain

Saturday night we went to Stone Mountain to celebrate Michelle's birthday with the family. It was fun, although probably not our best parenting choice with a sick baby, but she was okay. Claire had fun getting to see her cousins and aunts and uncles, and playing with the necklace that Aunt Michelle made her.She did okay with the laser show, but was not too thrilled with the fireworks, at least when we were up close to them. Unfortunately it started to rain right during the middle of the show, so we had to leave a little early, but it was a fun evening! We're looking forward to going back to Stone Mountain again soon, maybe to hang out for the day.

Sick baby :(

We had to make our first weekend visit to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta Immediate Care Clinic (what a mouthful!) this weekend. Claire had a little bit of a fever on Friday but was otherwise in a pretty good mood, so the nurse line at her pediatrician said to give her Tylenol, keep an eye on her, and if it got worse Friday evening or over the weekend that we should take her to Children's. She was doing pretty well until around noon on Saturday, when I took her temperature (which she hates!) and it was 101.8. I decided enough was enough, she had the temperature long enough, and she was acting like she was feeling really badly, so I took her in to Childrens. In the hour between the time I took her temperature at home, and when they took her temperature there, it had risen to 104.5.

The doctors ran urine, blood, strep, and flu tests, and all came back negative, so she was diagnosed with a virus, and discharged with instructions for Tylenol, Motrin, and lots of TLC. The doctor also okay'ed us to take her to Stone Mountain for the laser show, as there's really nothing that can be done for a virus. We also found out that Claire was only weighing in at 15lbs 4oz, which surprised me a little bit, I figured she would have put on more than 6oz since her 7 month visit, but she hadn't. She is still growing though, so I'm not very concerned, and the child eats like a champ. We'll see if her pediatrician has anything to say about it on Friday.

Claire's letter to Nana

Dear Nana,
Thank you so much for introducing me to the cheesy, saucy, noodle-y goodness of lasagna. I had some for dinner tonight and it was awesome. I was kind of mad when mommy kept switching between the lasagna and sweet potatoes, which you know I love. So that's saying something about your lasagna! I can't wait for the first time I get to try lemon chicken! Ah, the joy of table food!

Love,
Claire

Check out my new seat!

Check out the new feeding seat! Claire loves it, and I have a feeling that it will free up lots of time for mommy, because now I can just throw a handful of puffs on her tray and she can amuse herself for a few minutes!

We also started Claire on an awesome new nap schedule this week, she now takes 2 2-hour naps a day, and is a much happier baby for it. We'll see if daycare is able to keep up the schedule later this week. Probably not as well as we can do it at home, but it's worth a try! And now I can get SO much more done while she sleeps. Well, really, this week I've been sleeping most times that she takes a nap, to try and get rid of this nasty cold. It's starting to go away, but I'm ready to be done with it!

Happy Anniversary to my mom and day, their 34th wedding anniversary is today! Congratulations, and here's to 34 more years (which would make my dad 94, but whatever, we're a long-lived people).

I say no!

Claire's new favorite thing to do...shaking her head "no", especially while eating! Ignore dumb comments from Mommy in the background...

8 months!

I guess it's time for my monthly update.... I'll never have a famous blog at this rate. Oh well.

So Claire is 8 months old now. Crazy. I have no idea how that happened, since it seems like she was just born last month. She's growing like crazy, but hasn't been to the doctor in over a month, so I don't know what she weighs, but I'm sure it's over 15 pounds. She's LOVING solid food, and will eat anything you put in front of her. She has a baby-crush on Gerber Puffs, and has learned how to feed them to herself, she's very proud of that. I've been giving her small bites of people-food, and haven't found anything yet that she doesn't like. But without any teeth, she's still pretty limited.

Claire's new trick for this week is saying Dada. All the time. Like she only has one parent. Dadadadadada all day long. But I think I almost got a Mama out of her today, so that should be next. I sure hope so!!

We've had a busy last few weekends, two weeks ago we went to the G-Day game. We had a good time, but she was worn out by the time the game was over, and fell asleep in her BabyBjorn on the way back to the car. I think Daddy has learned that football is not quite the same with two kids trailing along (we took Tripp to the game too). Then the next day was Easter, so we went to church, then Aaron took her over to see his grandparents, then we went to Shiree and Jack's for family Easter. Then my parents came down, mom to babysit, and dad to visit overnight. So it was a busy weekend! This weekend we took Saturday off to just chill, and then Claire and I went to Calhoun for Caroline's 4th birthday party, where Caroline thought it was cute that Claire's dress matched the napkins! After the party we met mom at the outlets and stocked up on some pj's an summer outfits at Carters. Spoiled little baby!!

That's about it for now, the required pictures (the interesting part!) are below, enjoy!
